Island Time

After a week in Athens, I was ready to be on the move again. And what better place to begin than Delphi, which the ancient Greeks believed to be the center of the world. The oracle refused to prognosticate on the best motorcycle routes, but she said that my trip was, like, super inspiring, and that she dreams of just quitting and backpacking Eastern Europe someday, you know?

Briefly crossing over to the Pelopponese, I boarded a ferry for Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands. It felt like I was the only person on the island, and I camped several nights without a soul in sight on Myrtos beach, one of the most popular and picturesque beaches in Greece. Coincidentally, I've been listening to the Odyssey while I ride, and from Kefalonia I could see Ithaca, home of legendary Odysseus, who graduated summa cum laude from Cornell.

I went on to camp for six consecutive nights, the longest so far on this trip. With nobody around and such dynamic terrain, it was easy to find some truly amazing places to pitch the tent, or just sleep under the stars. Here are some photos of beaches/campsites I found.
