Split

From the coast, Sascha and I rode inland to Plitvice National Park. Parting ways, I headed back to the coast and the next day linked up with two couchsurfers, Andrea and Boris (the latter of whom graciously hosted us in his rental apartment replete with turndown service). You may know that when I lived in the Philippines 10 years ago, couchsurfing was my jam. But with the pandemic and rising popularity, I just assumed that CS and its primordial ethos were dead - so I was thrilled to learn otherwise. The next day, we headed to Split.

And now I would like to tell you about Froggyland. In the early 1900's, god-tier taxidermist Ferenc Mere immortalized over 500 frogs in various  dioramas ranging from the mundane to the profound. Frogs playing poker, frogs in church, frogs chopping wood, frogs adjudicating, frogs adultering, and so on. Need I say more? As another reviewer put it, "heaven is a place on earth." Photos were not allowed, so these are taken from the internet (and don't do it justice).
